Located a short drive from the idyllic village of Tarporley, Portal Golf & Spa Resort is the home to three of Cheshire's finest golf courses.
From the stadium layout of the Portal Championship course, to the rolling tree-lined fairways of the Premier Course, Portal Golf & Spa Resort presents two unique challenges for members and visitors alike.
The 9-hole Arderne course is also perfect for those just starting the game, providing a relaxed environment for beginners to hone their skills in preparation for 18-hole golf.
Away from the course, golfers can make sure they are prepared for the fairways with our fully-stocked pro shop, then re-live the highs and the lows of their round in the Premier Clubhouse or hotel bar.
The Championship Course at Portal Golf & Spa Resort, opened in 1990, was named 'Golf Course of the Year' in 1995, and is the star of Portal's golfing complex. Designer Donald Steel has created a challenge that is characterised by unique and distinctive holes; expansive water hazards and cascading waterfalls are among the tests. The signature is typical of Steel's magnificent 7,037 yard layout - the long third tips the scales at 607 yards, with a green guarded by a beautiful lake.
The Premier Course was opened in 1990 by former European Tour Professional, Andrew Murray. The dramatic natural undulations of the Cheshire sandstone ridge means each hole has a distinct and unique character, which provides eighteen very individual challenges during your round. The impressive colonial-style clubhouse offers magnificent panoramic views across the golf course. Boasting several bars and dining areas, the clubhouse is the perfect setting for a post-round meal.
Nestled in the tranquil Cheshire countryside is our hidden gem, the 9 hole Arderne Course. While this is the perfect environment for beginners to hone their golfing skills, it also provides a challenge for the more experienced player too. It's picturesque water features, contoured greens and mix of holes ranging between 100 and 310 yard makes this a delightful course to spend time with friends or family.
