If you fancy getting out and about there’s plenty to see and do without needing to venture too far from the comfort of the hotel. Medieval Beeston Castle is a short drive away and is regarded as one of the most dramatic ruins in the English landscape. With spectacular views – all the way from the Pennines to the Welsh Mountains on a clear day – and a 40-acre woodland park, it’s a great afternoon out. Likewise, Bunbury Mill, a restored working watermill in a picturesque spot, is well worth a visit.
Cheshire’s largest area of woodland - Delamere Forest - is close by so if you’re keen to explore the great outdoors, there are many trails to follow, numerous small lakes amongst the trees to discover and a diverse range of wildlife to spot.
Lively, historic Chester is just 30 minutes’ drive, but for a taste of local life, the village at Tarporley is a pleasant 20-minute walk away and is well known for hosting markets that celebrate local artisan food producers.
