The Cairngorms National Park has some of the cleanest rivers and lochs in Europe coupled with breath-taking views and you’ll find lots of great activities to enjoy on water. There’s more gentle activities including fishing, sailing and windsurfing through to adrenaline filled pursuits to try including white water rafting, gorge walking and river tubing.
You can see some incredible wildlife right here in the Cairngorms National Park including eighty per cent of the UK’s population of capercaillie, darting red squirrels all around and soaring ospreys.
There are osprey hides within the resort itself and you can book a tour with Aviemore Ospreys – April to August. You can also visit the UK’s only free-range reindeer herd, go on a sled dog training run as well as visit Highland Wildlife Park home to the UK’s only female polar bear.
With some of the most scenic backdrops in the country, the Cairngorms golf courses are not to be missed!
There’s a great choice of courses, both 9 and 18-holes nearby. This includes our sister resort golf courses a 5 minute drive away at Spey Valley Resort.
This includes a 9-hole academy course together with an 18 hole championship course. There’s also a river walk and The Clubhouse open to everyone which offers panoramic views of the Cairngorms.
There are some fantastic walks to experience within easy reach of the resort including a number of different routes to explore at our neighboring Craigellachie Nature Reserve.
A perfect destination for a stroll from Aviemore, the woodland combines the gentle motion of silver birch trees with the frantic activity of countless insects. If you are feeling more adventurous bag yourself a Munro in the Cairngorms – you’ll find a number of these within a short drive of the resort.
From riding along the quiet roads to riding in the spectacular mountain landscape, Cairngorms trails offer a cycling adventure suitable for everyone - and it’s not all easy pedaling.
The Cairngorms National Park is home to some of the best mountain bike routes in Scotland - ideal for challenging the adventurer in you.
There are a number of great routes to follow including forest trails to Loch Morlich and Loch an Eilein which we highly recommend.
