3. Have a Picnic
As the leaves turn golden and the air grows crisp, autumn offers a unique opportunity to experience the outdoors in all its colourful glory. One of the most delightful ways to immerse yourself in the season is by enjoying a seasonal picnic amidst the autumn splendour.
Enjoy a picnic from our casual eateries offering takeaway such as The Solent at Elmers Court Hotel & Resort in the New Forest. Or take advantage of local markets and shops to gather an array of seasonal treats. Think warm crusty bread, artisanal cheeses, fresh apples, and perhaps a thermos of hot spiced cider or pumpkin soup to ward off the autumn chill.
4. Go Pumpkin Picking
Get into the Halloween spirit by selecting the perfect pumpkin for carving or decorating. Many farms offer a festive atmosphere with additional activities for a full day of autumn fun. Pumpkin patches typically open in late September and run through October. Besides pumpkin picking, many farms offer corn mazes, hayrides, petting zoos, and seasonal treats like apple cider and pumpkin pie.
What to bring:
Make sure to dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes, as you’ll likely be spending a lot of time outdoors. Bring along a sturdy bag or basket for your pumpkins, and don’t forget a way to capture photos of the fun moments. A thermos of hot chocolate or apple cider can keep you warm, and a picnic blanket can be handy if you plan to relax and enjoy the farm’s offerings.
