Visit Scotland ScotSpirit Scheme arrives in Aviemore
Macdonald Aviemore Resort welcomes low income families and unpaid carers
Visit Scotland have successfully launched the ScotSpirit Holiday Voucher Scheme for unpaid carers and low-income families in Scotland to allow those most in need to take an overnight break away from home.
Macdonald Aviemore Resort have signed up to the scheme to give those people eligible the chance to take a well-deserved break in Aviemore. Scroll down to find out more.
Low Income Family Breaks
The scheme is funded by the Scottish Government and if you are a low-income family and would like to apply for a ScotSpirit break your application must be supported by someone working with your family such as a teacher, family support worker or social worker.
The person referring you must be registered with Family Holiday Association as a referrer. If they are not already a referrer, they can sign up on the Family Holiday Association website.
Unpaid Carers Breaks
Carers can also apply for a break away through their local Carers Organisation. To find out who is operating the Scheme in your area visit the Shared Care Scotland website.
Visiting Aviemore
Macdonald Aviemore Resort is easily accessible by car or just a few minutes walk from the train and bus links from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth and Inverness.
Guests at the resort will stay in a 4-star hotel with unlimited access to the large leisure centre which includes indoor lagoon pool, thermal suite, flume and wave machine together with a gym and soft play centre. There’s also a choice of restaurants and bars together with an onsite cinema with discounted tickets for guests.
Lots to See & Do in Aviemore
From the resort grounds you can walk directly to the Craigellachie Natural Nature Reserve which is free and has a range of walks to suit all abilities. Nearby you’ll also find lots of top visitor attractions including the Highland Wildlife Park, Landmark Forest Adventure Park and the Strathspey Steam Railway.
Aviemore is also home to lots of outdoor activities including watersports, cycling and walking trails together with pony trekking and off road driving.
