Discover Bath: Your Guide To The City In September
Whether you’re looking for fresh air, family fun or literary inspiration, there’s plenty to take your pick from.
Before the city slips into autumn, make the most of the sunny days by enjoying a relaxed lunch outside, a stroll round The Royal Crescent, or a tour on Bath’s popular tour buses. Here are just a few suggestions:
Author talks at Topping & Company: Sept 4th to Sept 30th
Topping & Company Booksellers have a fantastic shop at The Paragon, which is well-stocked with a huge range of fiction, non-fiction and specialist titles. Not only this, but they also run the Bath Autumn Literary Festival. The programme includes some great names, from famous authors to chefs and even a tea tasting session.
Combe Down Art Trail: Sept 7th to Sept 8th
Over 40 artists from the Combe Down area of Bath are taking part in this year’s trail. The route through the village includes sculptors, painters, jewellers and ceramicists. There’ll be demonstrations, as well as a huge variety of work for visitors to see and buy. If you’re feeling artistic, why not join in with an animation workshop or join the ‘All Play’ music workshop, aimed at all ages and abilities?
Dino Family Raceday: September 15th
Yes, that’s right, you did read this correctly! Europe’s largest animatronic dinosaurs are coming to Bath, giving families the change to meet T-Rex, Raptors and baby dinosaurs. There’ll be plenty of photo opportunities, and for children, there’s the chance to make dinosaur masks, try their hand at ‘ranger training’ and get their face painted.
Bath Walking Festival: Sept 14th to Sept 22nd
If you want to get to know Bath, this is a great way to do so. The festival includes 50 free walks, covering different themes and distances. It finishes with the grand finale, the Julian House charity annual sponsored walk. Participants can choose to walk two or 20 miles, exploring some beautiful surrounding countryside while raising vital funds.
Jane Austen Festival: Sept 13th to Sept 22nd
Given Bath’s connection with the world-famous author Jane Austen, this festival is a real highlight in the city’s events calendar. From walking tours to talks, readings and a regency costumed masked ball, there’s plenty for fans to choose from. Don’t miss the mini promenade on September 22nd when those taking part in the festival meet in period costume at The Circus to walk the streets of Bath.
Staff Pick: The Events Team All the Seasons Wedding Showcase: September 22nd
This month's staff pick is one of our own events: our All the Seasons Wedding Showcase.
