World-famous chef serves up exclusive culinary experience

One of the Oxfordshire’s most iconic hotels, Macdonald Randolph Hotel, has launched a unique fine dining experience at its acclaimed Acanthus restaurant.

The ‘Chef’s Table’ six-course tasting menu has been created specifically for the hotel by renowned chef Ram Jalasutram, previously of the Dorchester and the prestigious Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland. The exquisite menu has been carefully curated to showcase the best of British cuisine, from Scottish salmon served with cured & poached goat cheese fritter and candy roots; corn-fed chicken with truffle scented baby breast pave, bunny carrot, baby gem and grapefruit glaze; and Southdown rack of lamb served with puff crust, black pudding, smoked wild mushroom and mint dressing. To finish, guests can enjoy chocolate with valrhona textures, and pistachio powder.

With an emphasis on the seasonality and locality of ingredients, the Chef’s Table promises to be one of the most sought-after dining experiences in Oxford. The visually stunning dishes will be served in the private area of the Acanthus restaurant, offering diners the opportunity to watch as chefs prepare their food.

Ram, who has worked with some of the world’s most celebrated chefs, including Raymond Blanc, Gordon Ramsey and Alain Ducasse, said: “Using the finest and freshest ingredients, and carefully considered flavour combinations, we have created a series of dishes that showcase the best that Britain has to offer.

“Served in the grand Acanthus restaurant, guests can expect nothing but luxury from the moment they arrive.” 

About Ram Jalasutram... Ram was born in Andhra south side of India. He studied hotel management in Mumbai, before getting the opportunity to work with the Oberoi Tower Hotel, Mumbai. In the UK, he has worked with some of the most prestigious culinary establishments in the country, including head chef at the Dorchester, London; Executive Head Chef at Gleneagles Hotel, Scotland; Head Chef at Pennyhill Park, near Ascot; Senior Sous Chef at The Capital Hotel in Knightsbridge; Senior Sous Chef at Gordon Ramsey’s Pétrus.
