Discover Bath: What’s on in November
The darker, chillier nights are here to stay, and that only means one thing – it’s time to grab your winter woollies, a hot chocolate and settle around a bonfire. November is here, and with it brings the crunch of orange-tinged autumn leaves and a hint of festive spirit in the air.
Here are some our favourite events coming up in November.
Light Up Lansdown Fireworks: 1st November
This year, Bath Racecourse’s annual firework display has been choreographed to a Disney soundtrack, making this a super family-friendly event for Disney lovers of all ages. Expect a blazing bonfire, plenty of sweet treats and – of course – a spectacular 10-minute firework display. Tickets purchased in advance are available at a discounted price.
Day-time astronomy: Transit of Mercury: 11th November
Every 100 years, Mercury passes directly between the Sun and the Earth approximately 13 times – typically in May and November. We’re lucky enough to be able to witness this on the afternoon of 11th November, and The Herschel Museum is hosting a free session for museum-goers the this spectacle as it happens. There’s no need to book, simply turn up on the day.
Bath Mozartfest: 8th – 16th November
For the last 29 years, Bath Mozartfest has not only celebrated W A Mozart’s work, but his inspiration and contemporaries too. Each year, some of the very best international talent performs at various locations around the city, from the Assembly Rooms to the Guildhall. With sessions running throughout the day until past 10pm, you’ll be spoilt for choice with the line-up.
FilmBath: 7th – 17th November
From emotional dramas to enlightening documentaries, FilmBath will screen 37 feature films and 46 short films over the course of just ten days – almost two-thirds of which are directed by women. On 7th November, true-story political thriller The Report will open the festival, and an advanced screening of satirical JoJo Rabbit (due for release in January 2020) will mark the closure of the event.
Goya and Stories in Print: 16th – 17th November
Fancy trying your hand at print-making? Head to the Holburne Museum for a celebration of the craft and a chance to see how it’s done by printmaker Simon Marsh. You’ll be able to enjoy free demonstrations and participate in hands-on practical workshops.
