A Winter Wonderland in Aviemore
A Winter Wonderland in Aviemore – Relaxing Breaks after a Busy Christmas
It’s almost touching distance now to the big day of the year that is of course Christmas. We’ve all been working hard towards this day for months from planning the perfect presents to ensuring we spend precious time with our nearest and dearest.
After what will undoubtedly be an exciting and busy time, it’s worth thinking about getting away somewhere special to avoid the anti-climax effect after Christmas. But more importantly to relax and recuperate.
Somewhere perfect to do this is Macdonald Aviemore Resort in the Cairngorms National Park where you can feel a million miles away. Think 4-star hotels, cosy woodland lodges and one of the most incredible settings in the country, surrounded by winter lochs, mountains and pine forests.
Between Christmas and New Year or after New Year itself, it’s the perfect time to truly relax with a break away from it all. Swap cooking and cleaning for meals served to you – imagine a full cooked breakfast without lifting a finger or being treated to dinner in a restaurant. At this resort children eat for free with a paying adult which will help keep the budget down.
To really unwind the resort has a large leisure complex with indoor heated pool, the largest in the area. For adults there’s also a sauna, steam room and whirlpool bath which will tick all the boxes for a post-Christmas detox. For little ones there’s a large flume and wave machine in the pool together with soft play and a range of activity rooms all indoors for all ages and abilities.
The resort also has a large cinema showing the latest movies, a luxury department store and a festive panto of Robinson Crusoe running on various dates after Christmas until early January. A visit to the panto is a key part of the festive season full of laughter, great costumes and plenty of boos and hisses.
Located in the heart of Aviemore there is literally hundreds of things to do within a short drive including a visit to the UK’s only free-range reindeer, a ride with Britain’s only working sled-dogs or a visit to the polar bears at Highland Wildlife Park.
May the post-Christmas break be just the tonic to finish off 2019!
