Marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, The Queen will officially become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee - making it a momentous occasion where people and communities nationwide can come together to acknowledge the historic milestone.
The four days of celebration starting on Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June will herald the exciting culmination of initiatives taking place throughout the year, and you can make one of our enticing locations your pampering base for what promises to be a joyous bank holiday weekend filled with festivities.
Where to Stay Near London
If you want to be near the heart of the action in the capital, where parades of soldiers, horses and musicians will parade through Buckingham Palace and down The Mall before the traditional RAF fly-past on Saturday 2nd June, stay within handy travel distance at our collection of hotels to the west of the city.
With The Queen historically enamoured with her residence at Windsor Castle, it stands to reason that there will be plenty to see and do from our magnificent Macdonald Windsor Hotel just two minutes’ walk away, and Berystede Hotel & Spa in nearby Ascot.
Planned events at the castle across the four days include the lighting of beacons, fireworks on the Long Walk, a concert at St George’s Chapel and the Jubilee Picnic in the Park – the latter of which will feature cars throughout the years of The Queen’s reign.
Food enthusiasts will relish a trip to Compleat Angler, Marlow, where fittingly quintessential Afternoon Tea can be enjoyed alongside wonderful evening dining in our Riverside Restaurant.
Where to Stay in The Midlands
Our Burlington Hotel is ideally situated on New Street for access to the four days of live music, entertainment and food on offer as part of celebrations in Victoria Square, just 5 minutes away from the comfort of our city centre accommodation.
As in other areas around the UK, Thursday evening’s proceedings will begin with lit beacons, while a jubilee concert broadcast will be shown live from Buckingham Palace as a live orchestra and global music stars perform and actors from film, TV and stage pick out significant cultural moments from the last 70 years.
Away from the city itself, Alveston Manor in Stratford-upon-Avon places you near an assortment of intriguing events, including The Stratford-upon-Avon Platinum Jubilee Festival, where street parties and live performances set the scene for an incredible Royal artisan market stretching across the town.
Where to Stay in North England and Scotland
Hotels in the historic Roman city of Chester in Craxton Wood Hotel & Spa on the leafy outskirts and the city centre located New Blossoms provide the perfect resting spot after attending The Lord Major of Chester’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Look forward to a mass sing-along, beacon lighting and military parade from Chester Town Hall.
Combine a trip to scenic Scotland and the capital city of Edinburgh, where Houstoun House and Macdonald Inchyra Hotel & Spa make reaching the culturally acclaimed city easy so you can join in a number of street parties being held in the region.
