The Chiltern Hills contain some of the finest countryside in the UK. Here youll find quiet valleys with medieval villages, dramatic hilltop viewpoints, leafy green woodlands and flower-covered meadows. Wildlife, flora and fauna abound – red kites, buzzards, kestrels and sparrowhawks take to the air. Roe, fallow and muntjac deer are a common sight. Orchids and bluebells add extra colour in spring and summer. The Chiltern Hills are full of man-made treasures too. Visit Fingest with its 12th Century church’s west tower; Frieth, Skirmett and the much filmed Turville, location of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Vicar of Dibley. Please ask at reception for details of local walks.
