You'll find the massive ruined castle and gardens at Lowther, on a limestone escarpment at the northern edge of the Lake District National Park. The 130 acre, Grade II listed site contains the remnants of at least three significant buildings and an abandoned garden. Once famous as one of Englands greatest gardens, its been unseen for 70 years. Now, youll be able to admire once again a garden that few have seen, and to see the conservation craftsmen and women at work on the castle and the gardens. Its one of the largest such projects in Britain, a rare opportunity to see the restoration of true grandeur.
