Ringfinnan Garden of Remembrance is dedicated to the memory of Fr. Michael Judge, Chaplain in the New York Fire Department and to the 343 brave fire fighters who gave their lives on September 11th 2001.
The Ringfinnan Garden of Remembrance was initiated by Kathleen Murphy, a nurse in New York City. She was born in Ringfinnan, Kinsale and worked as a nurse in New York City. Shocked at the deaths of 343 fire fighters in 9/11 she planted 343 trees on her land in rememberance of each individual who died as well as one tree for Father Michael Judge, a personal friend of Kathleen.
