From the South
Leave the M6 at Junction 36 and follow signs for Kendal and South Lakes.
Follow the dual carriageway for approximately 8 miles, and on arriving at a large roundabout, follow the A591 / signs for Windermere.
Continue on the A591 past Windermere following signs to Ambleside
On entering Ambleside at 1st set of traffic lights turn left and follow the one way system.
When the road splits remain in left hand lane, though the traffic lights and then hard left hand turn.
Follow roads signs to Rydal & Grasmere.
On approach to Grasmere go straight over the roundabout.
You will find the Swan on your right hand side on the A591.

From the North
Leave the M6 at Junction 40. At roundabout take the 4th exit on to the A66 signposted Keswick.
After approximately 12 miles turn left onto station road the B5322, signposted Thirlmere
After 5 miles turn left onto the A591
In approximately 7 miles you will arrive at Grasmere with the Swan on left hand side.

Windermere Station 10 miles. (London Euston 4 hours.)
Stagecoach bus no. 555 and taxi available from Windermere Station.

Local Stagecoach bus No. 555 (Lancaster - Carlisle) runs through the Lake District National Park, serving many local communities and providing access to the starting and finishing points of several famous walks. It stops opposite the Swan Hotel on leaving Grasmere.
