Swan Hotel, Photo Gallery
Built in 1650 as a coaching inn, and referred to in Wordsworth’s poem 'The Waggoner', the Swan Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in the Lake District.
Nestled in the Cumbrian countryside, with views across the Fells and access to several challenging trails, this cosy and inviting hotel is ideal for walkers and cyclists. With open sunny vistas in summer and blazing log fires in winter, The Swan is the ideal base for exploring the wonders of the Lake District.
Once you have finished exploring the Lake District for the day, relieve tired muscles with a long soak in the bathtub. Watch TV from the comfort of your bed and sleep soundly in a restful Classic Room at the Swan Hotel.
Admire the private gardens or dramatic Helm Crag from your elegantly furnished Executive Room, or sink into the comfortable armchair and watch a movie.
Each with its own unique character, these spacious Feature Rooms offer views of either the garden or the fells and some feature canopy or four-poster beds. Choose from a double or a suite.
Choose from tempting British dishes, made using only the freshest ingredients, and dine by candlelight in the historic surroundings of the Waggoner's Restaurant.
Following a long day out walking in the Lake District, retreat to the welcoming comfort of the Swan Hotel's Walkers’ Bar for a warming whisky or a refreshing local beer. Muddy boots and wet dogs are welcome!
Curl up on the couch with a freshly brewed coffee and some local gingerbread in the Swan Hotel's comfortable Cygnet Lounge.
