Macdonald Marine Hotel and Spa, North Berwick from £110pp – Only 30mins from the tourist hotspot, Edinburgh, the hotel is the perfect location to enjoy a luxurious and indulgent break. A grand Victorian building, which recently underwent at £14m refurbishment, it is located in the heart of East Lothian’s golfing coast overlooking the West Links golf course as well as the Firth of Forth. Guests can make use of the extensive spa facilities, including Scotland’s only indoor and outdoor salt water hydro pool, and a thermal suite featuring hot and cold sensations such as sauna and steam rooms and an ice shower. Chilling out is completed in the sensuous relaxation suite. There is also a TechnoGym and an 18m swimming pool, as well as seven treatment rooms offering an extensive treatment list. Spa breaks include Ocean Escape and Mother and Daughter packages. Macdonald Old England Hotel and Spa, Windermere from £235pp – The hotel will boast the area’s most luxurious and advanced leisure club and spa when it opens in early November. Featuring an extensive thermal suite, experience and thermal showers, a rock sauna, an infra red sauna and a cooling ice room, guests will also be able to tone up in the well-equipped TechnoGym. The £3m facility will also feature a relaxation room and a 20m swimming pool with an outside terrace overlooking Lake Windermere. For those who love pampering, the spa is equipped with eight treatment rooms and a varied treatment list using Decleor and Jessica ranges, plus a St Tropez tanning facility. The hotel, which has just completed a £10m refurbishment resulting in 106 contemporary and luxurious bedrooms and warm and inviting public areas including a restaurant and lounge, is situated in mature gardens, with lawns down to the lakeside and its own private jetties and moorings so you can enjoy a brisk walk by the water front or as the days get cooler, simply sit indoors in the warmth with a hot chocolate and enjoy the spectacular views. Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa from £225pp – the final phase of the new 85-bedroom Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa in Tarporley, Cheshire was unveiled in September – the £3m Vital Leisure Club and Spa. Epitomising luxury, it features a thermal suite complete with a sauna, rock sauna, aroma steam bath, ice room and a salt infusion suite. Guests can also enjoy a dip in the 18-metre swimming pool offering uninterrupted countryside views or tone up in the well-equipped TechnoGym. Eight treatment rooms add more blissful retreat destinations, with delectable top-to-toe treatments selected from a varied treatment list using Decleor and Jessica ranges. On a three day break (two nights), why not enjoy an aroma body brilliance wrap to soften and smooth the skin and a back, neck and shoulder massage to ease away tension. Finish with a manicure or pedicure and you are ready to face the world again. This is priced from £225pp based on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis for two sharing.

Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel from £269pp – Set in elegant surroundings, The £3m Spa has been designed to create a calm and inviting environment where candle-lit corridors take you through to the six treatment rooms – one of which can accommodate up to two people. Babor signature treatments and products are used exclusively here, with Jessica manicure and pedicures and an on-site hair salon to ensure you look fabulous after a day of treatments! Disabled access means The Spa is open to all. Why not try The Spa a la Carte. Enjoy a one hour treatment per person from a choice of Prescription Facial, Spa Relax Facial (for men) or a Full Body Massage.
