AA Award
The Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Chester attended the unveiling of a plaque at a leading hotel in the town to mark its success in a national hospitality award.
A gleaming plaque announcing that Macdonald Hotels has been named as the AA Hotel Group of the Year now adorns the wall outside the Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel in St John’s Street.
The Lord Mayor, Cllr James Latham, and the Lady Mayoress, Mrs Hilary Latham, were also invited to lunch at the hotel’s Snooty Fox restaurant by general manager Kate Halewood.
Kate said it was fantastic that the hotel group had won the prestigious award to acknowledge the high standards of its service and facilities.
This has been a memorable year in the hotel’s history,” she said. “We re-opened in April following our £3 million refurbishment and it was a pleasure to take the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Chester on a tour around our new-look hotel.
They were extremely impressed with the renovations as well as the food served in the Snooty Fox restaurant which promotes great British food.
We believe we have helped Chester to maintain its reputation for providing excellent accommodation and cuisine for leisure and business guests to the town and the AA award acknowledges that.
The success could only have been achieved with the dedication of every member of staff and we will continue to work hard to maintain the standards that have been set in helping us to achieve this recognition from the AA.
The £3 million project included refurbishing the hotel’s 67 en-suite bedrooms, conference and meeting rooms, restaurant, lounge and cocktail bar.
