Wedding Fayre

Harpist Nerys Hewitt is looking forward to returning to a new-look Cheshire hotel when it holds its first wedding fayre. The musician has played at many weddings and functions in the restaurant at the Premier course at the Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa. But it will be the first time the Wrexham-based harpist has performed at the hotel in Cobblers Cross Lane, Tarporley, since its £11. 8 million refurbishment and extension was completed.

The wedding fayre will take place on Sunday, March 9, between 11am and 4pm in various suites throughout the hotel. Nerys said: I have been a professional harpist for about 15 years and I used to live near Tarporley. In the past I have played at weddings and functions at the Premier course which is just down road from the main site so it will be great to play in the new hotel. I have played at civil ceremonies and wedding receptions all over the country but the majority of my work is carried out in the North West. I think it adds something special to the day to have live music rather than playing a CD and the bride, bridegroom and guests are always complimentary.

There will also be two fashion shows showing the latest trends in bridal wear from Zyra and beauty therapists from Portal’s health club and spa will be demonstrating hair styles as well as giving makeovers and pamper treatments. About ten local suppliers ranging from florists to photographers to a toastmaster will be taking part in the day. Christine Jones, director of sales at the Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa, said this was the hotel’s first wedding fayre. We have invited some of the area’s leading companies who will provide services to ensure your wedding is the day of your dreams, she said. The fashion shows will be taking place in the Castle Suite and another suite will be set up as if a civil ceremony is taking place. Portal is a fantastic wedding venue since we are surrounded by Cheshire’s wonderful countryside which is a perfect backdrop for photographs and our Castle Suite can accommodate between 50 and 250 guests. Refreshments will be served throughout the day and we hope as many brides-to-be, their fiancés, friends and families as possible will come along to see the hotel for themselves at our wedding fayre. Anyone who books their wedding on the day will receive a £200 discount (subject to minimum numbers).
