
Macdonald Shortlisted for Aviemore TV Campaign

The Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort has been shortlisted for its family TV commercial by the Travel Advertising Awards.
The resort is one of three companies recognised in the 'Best Low Budget TV Ad' category and comes hot on the heels of the resort receiving a short-listing in the National Business Awards for Scotland for its marketing strategy.
The ad was shot by renowned Scottish wildlife photographer Neil MacIntyre who captured the rugged landscape of the Scottish Highlands and showcased the resort's varied range of activities and facilities.
Created by the London advertising agency Smarter Communications, the commercial breaks were broadcast primarily on Scottish and Grampian TV, plus Border, Channel 4 and Channel 5 Scotland and Ulster TV. The campaign was also screened on select Sky channels including Living TV.
Commenting on the nomination, Ruaridh Macdonald, marketing director, said: "We worked closely with Smarter Communications to create emotive and striking commercials using strong Scottish imagery and music to portray the wild and natural beauty of the resort's Highland location.
"The aim was to highlight the attraction of The Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort as a family holiday destination with excellent leisure, golf and dining facilities.
"Focusing heavily on TV advertising was a bold move for Macdonald Aviemore - as one of the few luxury resorts to advertise on TV, it provided stand-out in the market."
The Travel Industry Awards recognise the best creative work in the travel and tourism industry and encourage the highest standards of creativity.
The awards take place in London on 14 September 2006 and are acknowledged as one of the top ceremonies in the industry calendar, attended by over 400 people.
The National Business Awards for Scotland will also announce their category winners on 14 September, 2006, at an awards dinner in Glasgow.
