Leisure Opening
The founder of a leading Shropshire golf club had the honour of being the first person to take the plunge in the swimming pool of its new health club and spa.
The Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Spa threw open the doors of its stunning £1.7 million health club and spa on Thursday.(December 20)
Albert Minshall, who founded Hill Valley in 1975, dived into the heated 20-metre swimming pool at the venue in Tarporley Road, Whitchurch.
It is amazing how far Hill Valley has developed over the last 30 plus years, he said. I could never have envisaged this.
Whitchurch has needed a luxury health club and spa just like this for many years and I am delighted that we have been able to provide it.
It is fantastic that we now have top class leisure facilities to offer local people as well as golf members and guests staying at the hotel.
I really enjoyed my swim and anyone thinking about joining a health club to get fit in 2008 should come along and have a look round because I guarantee you won’t be disappointed. Iain Gray, general manager of the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Spa, said pre-opening membership was currently at 310 people which was really encouraging. I truly believe this health club and spa will improve the facilities for local people within the region as well as encourage more people to visit the area for leisure breaks, he said.
If some members of a group don’t play golf they can now head to the gym, the pool or enjoy beauty treatments. We will no longer be known as simply a golf destination because we can offer so much more whether people are visiting for a conference, dinner in our restaurant or to visit the spa. The new building also features a state-of-the-art gym, a thermal suite including a steam room, rock sauna and experience shower and a Spa relaxation room with four spa therapy rooms.
