WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT AVIEMORE?

To coincide with the unveiling of the plans for its masterplan development, the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort is launching a competition for budding young artists on what they find special about Aviemore. The competition is open to all under 12s in the local area. Children are invited to draw a picture of what they love about the town. Maybe it’s a favourite place or view, or perhaps a favourite person who lives in the town. It could even be a special memory but must show what’s special about Aviemore for them. The winning picture will be displayed in the resort along with five runners up images, and will be erected onto hoardings surrounding areas where new build development work will take place. The winner will also receive a family trip to another Macdonald Hotel of their choice and £250 worth of art materials for their school. Five runners up will also receive £50 worth of art materials.

A judging panel, made up of representatives from the resort, and the Strathspey & Badenoch Herald’s editor, Gavin Musgrove will decide on the best entries. Gerry McGhee, managing director of the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort said: “I’m sure there are plenty of budding young designers out there and this is a great opportunity for them to show off their talents.

“The hoarding boards surrounding the new development will be seen by thousands of residents and visitors so the winner could really become a local celebrity. We’ll be spending a lot of time deciding the best entry and taking into account the special ideas local children have about Aviemore.” The pictures should be drawn on A4 paper in full colour and sent to Margaret Fraser at the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort, Aviemore, PH22 1PN.
