Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, the UK's largest privately-owned hotel group, is to unveil the Spey Valley Golf Course to the UK conference and events market at the Confex Exhibition 2006 at Earls Court in London, 21 - 23rd February.
Recognising the close link between golf and business, Macdonald Hotels will disclose details of the new, par 72 championship course, part of the £80m redevelopment of the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort, to the conference market for the first time.
Open for business on 26th May 2006, and already taking bookings, the course is set in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and has been designed by the world renowned Dave Thomas, who describes the course as 'the jewel in his crown'. As part of the Macdonald resort destination, the course has been built to be capable of staging top-flight professional events while still being playable by golfers of all abilities.
Offering golf to its conference delegates for relaxation, hospitality or as part of team building activity has become an increasingly important part of the Macdonald Hotels brand. Macdonald Hill Valley, the Macdonald Cardrona Country Club and the Macdonald Botley Park Hotel feature outstanding golf courses. Other famous golfing hotels such as the Macdonald Rusacks which overlooks the 18th green of the Old Course in St Andrews and the Macdonald Marine Hotel & Spa, set amid East Lothian's 19 outstanding courses, also make up the Macdonald Hotels' golfing portfolio.
Fraser Cromarty, Golf Director and PGA Professional said:
"With the opening of the Spey Valley Course, the Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort is going to have one of the best inland courses in Scotland, if not, in the UK. And when conference guests are looking for more than just a conference suite - to link business and pleasure - we believe that the addition of golf will have an instant appeal.""Macdonald Hotels & Resorts own and manage some of the best golfing tourism destinations in the UK offering tremendous potential for golfing societies, corporate events and even families looking for a special kind of holiday. The variety and character of each means there is something for everyone and every type of golfing challenge and experience exists for the novice to the golf pro, the golfing spectator to junior golfers."
