A top Stirlingshire hotel has scooped a prestigious honour at the recent Scottish Hotel of the Year Awards.
Macdonald Forest Hills Hotel and Resort, near Aberfoyle, was awarded the The Scottish Family Hotel of the Year 2007 in recognition of the welcome it extends to families, the range of facilities on offer at the hotel, and the quality of service provided to both visitors and resident guests.
Nick Topping, General Manager at Macdonald Forest Hills, said: "We are delighted to receive an award that recognises the hard work and commitment of the team in ensuring everyone's stay at the hotel is an enjoyable one - particularly if they are our discerning younger guests!"
Once a rather large Victorian family country house, the hotel offers a well-equipped gym and pool, conference and function suites and a new accommodation wing, bringing the total of bedrooms available to 54. In addition, families can choose to stay in one of the 64 luxury lodges located in the extensive grounds.
Importantly, none of the charm or essence of the original Scottish hospitality and appeal has been lost, with a greeter at hand on the hotel door to take guests to reception, help with prams or wheelchairs, and arrange the delivery of bags to guest's rooms.
During their stay, guests can head to the gym and pool, or take advantage of the great outdoors, with many well-marked trails available through the Loch Ard forest or up Ben Venue, which has magnificent views. The hotel also operates an all-year-round activity programme, which is led by a team of experienced and qualified instructors. Pursuits offered include archery, Canadian canoeing, fishing, rock climbing, orienteering, pony trekking and sailing, and during holiday times, a selection of children's activity programme are on offer.
The hotel has previously been commended for its quality of its food and beverage services with two prestigious industry honours for its culinary excellence - a gold plate and a breakfast rosette by HotelReview Scotland.
Popular with families who perhaps prefer something a little less formal, the Rafters Steakhouse offers a delightful bistro menu, including pizzas, steaks, burgers & pasta. Children's high teas are also served during school holidays.
