CHRISTINE 'SALES' INTO TOP ROLE AT MACDONALD PORTAL

A new director of sales has been attracted back to the region to join a luxury Cheshire hotel currently undergoing a multi-million pound transformation.

Christine Jones will oversee the drive to attract businesses and leisure guests to the Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa in Cobblers Cross Lane, Tarporley, which is benefiting from an £11.8 million redevelopment scheduled for completion in June.

With vast experience in the hospitality industry, Christine will be returning to Cheshire after leaving for her native Scotland four years ago.

Her last role was as group sales and marketing manager for a group of privately-owned hotels in Ayrshire, where she was part of the management team which secured Scottish Hotel Group of the Year 2006.

The Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa is undergoing a massive transformation to build 85 en-suite bedrooms, conference and banqueting facilities and a leisure club featuring a thermal suite, 18-metre swimming pool, 10 beauty rooms, exercise studios and a state-of-the-art gym.

Christine, aged 29, said she is looking forward to moving back into the area and encouraging visitors to sample the state-of-the-art facilities.

She said: "This is a dream come true for me and it is definitely the most exciting project I have ever worked on.

"We will be putting a particular emphasis on attracting businesses to the hotel and establishing this as the premier conference venue in Cheshire.

"The leisure facilities will be excellent and, on top of the established golf courses, the spa will offer a wide range of beauty treatments.

"Of course the hotel is also very close to the famous shopping in Chester so there really will be something for everyone."

Before moving to Scotland, Christine was the Director of Sales at the Midland Hotel, Manchester - a venue which caters for up to 500 corporate guests.

She will be moving back to Frodsham in Cheshire with her husband Ben, who is a community fundraising manager for Cancer Research, and their two young sons Sam, aged four, and 18-month-old Joe.
