REFURBISHED HOTEL BLOSSOMS IN THE HEART OF CHESTER

A £3 million refurbishment has been completed at one of the oldest hotels in Chester.

The Macdonald Blossoms Hotel in St John's Street re-opened on Wednesday (April 4) after being closed for the last four months. The project has included refurbishing the hotel's 67 ensuite bedrooms, conference and meeting rooms, restaurant, lounge and cocktail bar.

Thirty-five full and part-time staff have been employed at the Macdonald Blossoms Hotel with the vast majority being local people.

Regional director Debbie Johnson said the £3 million investment by owners Macdonald Hotels & Resorts had completely transformed the property which is situated in the heart of Chester.

"The hotel has been revitalised by the work that has been carried out over the last four months", she said.

"We have decorated and added new bathrooms and modern furnishings including 23 inch LCD televisions to the 67 executive and feature bedrooms and suites which have still retained their individual charm since there has been an inn on this site since 1410."

"All the leaded windows throughout the building have been sympathetically restored and repaired and our conference rooms have all had the latest technology fitted to provide delegates with all the facilities they need including 42 inch televisions."

"The restaurant, lounge and bar on the ground floor now have contemporary furnishings and we will be open throughout the day for shoppers and business people to enjoy a meal and drinks as well as our guests. We are already fully booked for Easter weekend and the following weekend due to the Grand National at Aintree which is fantastic."

"There has been a great deal of hard work but we are all delighted with the final results and I hope as many of our new and old guests will pop into the hotel to have a look at the transformation that has taken place for themselves."
