Macdonald Marine Hotel and Spa Launches Bespoke Detox Breaks with TV Star Amanda Hamilton

16 October 2009

The award winning four star Macdonald Marine Hotel and Spa, North Berwick has launched a series of bespoke detox retreats created exclusively by GMTV nutritionist Amanda Hamilton. Amanda is one of the UK's leading experts on nutrition to rejuvenate the body. The first of the wellbeing series takes place 25-30 October 2009, the second course from 21 - 26 February 2010 and the third from 24-29 October 2010.

Amanda, who is also a star presenter of BBC's Something for the Weekend offers one-to-one and group nutrition consultations with people looking to address specific health concerns with a nutritional approach. Rather than hibernate over the winter months Amanda encourages guests to rejuvenate their body and mind.

Choose from either a three or five day body shaping and detox programme personally directed by Amanda. Each day of the retreat follows a pattern of support and rejuvenation for the body: spa-treatments; group and one on one pilates, yoga and chi gong; invigorating outdoor exercise for all levels and delicious juice meals, and an evening detox dinner prepared by the Macdonald Marine Hotel Executive Chef, JP Maclachlan.

Each Retreat is part of a three month programme which involves pre-screening consultation, pre-course workbook, the retreat itself, and then a post-course support system to ensure the positive results of the course are maintained.

Seamus Coen, General Manager, Macdonald Marine Hotel and Spa commented;

"Having Amanda Hamilton host her detox and nutrition retreats at our hotel was a natural choice due to our constant high standards and relaxing location.

"We are also lucky to have the second oldest golf course in the world which is ideal for partners who prefer the outdoor sport to Amanda's health regime."

The Macdonald Marine Hotel is positioned on Scotland's stunning East coast, with views overlooking the sea and sandy beaches, yet only half an hour's transfer from Edinburgh Airport making it easily accessible for a short break. The hotel also boasts a stunning golf course which overlooks the sea and is the second oldest golf course in the world which has attracted the biggest names in golf including Jack Nicklaus and Nick Faldo.
