Multi-million pound conference and banqueting facilities are set to open in Shropshire in the spring.

The centrepiece of the £13.5 million redevelopment at the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Country Club is six new conference suites.

The luxury hotel in Tarporley Road, Whitchurch, will boast five meeting rooms and a massive conference suite for up to 300 delegates from April 1.

Regional manager Calum Colquhoun said the state-of-the-art conference and banqueting facilities would prove to be a magnet for businessmen and women.

"This £13.5 million refurbishment is one of the biggest investments in the region by a hotel group for a long time," he said.

"This venue has always been highly regarded for its golf courses but we are now determined to build a reputation as the number one destination or corporate functions and meetings."

"Our location is ideal for multi-national companies who have staff travelling from all over the country since we are situated within easy travelling distance of people living in the Midlands, Wales, Merseyside, Shropshire and the North."

"We are also creating an 86-bedroom development which will provide four-star standards for our guests who wish to stay over."

The Shropshire Suite will seat 300 delegates theatre-style with banqueting facilities and features comfort cooling and audio visual equipment and is self-contained with a separate bar which also makes it ideal for weddings.

There will be five meeting rooms which can cater for 50 guests theatre-style or 20 for a boardroom setting.

The major development also involves refurbishing the restaurant, lounge and bar areas, and the Vital Leisure and Health Spa featuring an indoor swimming pool, gym and beauty rooms will open in Autumn.

Calum added:
