A new £33 million hotel is to be developed in Manchester by Macdonald Hotels & Resorts.
Over the next twelve months, the Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa will emerge in a prominent city centre location, as the Group looks to create a new, luxurious, 215 bedroomed property. Due to open in October 2007, it will maintain the high standard of luxury business and leisure accommodation already enjoyed by visitors in the city. The hotel will boast a striking exterior, with glass cladding all round, and inside a wide range of facilities including: extensive conference and event amenities, equipped with LCD screen-to-laptop systems and projectors, WiFi and broadband connections, and capable of holding up to 280 delegates; and a 150 seated restaurant on the hotel's first floor offering creative and contemporary cuisine. One of the unique features of the hotel will be the spacious five star quality bedrooms, all with air conditioning, and broadband access.
Speaking of the Group's latest development, Deputy Chief Executive, David Guile said:
"This hotel is certainly one of Group's most ambitious developments to date and will be an excellent addition to our existing portfolio of premium four and five star properties across the UK."
"Here we have a unique opportunity to give Manchester a contemporary and luxurious hotel whilst retaining the heritage of one of its well-known landmarks. Indeed, every aspect of this development has been designed to offer its guests the very best in terms of comfort, style and ultra modern amenities."
The hotel is located in the absolute heart of Manchester's city centre, just opposite the city's main train station, Piccadilly, and will closely follow the much anticipated opening of the company's new 275 bedroom hotel in the city centre of Bristol in March 2007, at a cost in excess of £30million.
As with the Manchester hotel, Macdonald Holland House will offer guests a choice of luxurious and spacious bedrooms, alongside all the facilities that business and leisure markets demand. The hotel will feature a state-of-the-art spa and leisure suite, restaurant and bar, a 300 seat banqueting room, and 12 conference and meeting rooms in its business centre.
