Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort scoops environmental awards

The Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort has won several environmental awards from VisitScotland. The Green Tourism Business Scheme is a VisitScotland Scheme that credits environmental good practise and the resort has been praised for several of its buildings.
The Scheme helps businesses identify costs savings relating to energy efficiency, water conservation and waste minimisation. It encourages the use of green products such as local food, drink and crafts and helps promote public transport, cycling, walking and wildlife conservation.
On the resort, the Macdonald Highlands Hotel and Academy Hotel have passed at Silver level by showing many examples of good environmental management and excellent monitoring and control of systems.
In addition, the resort's stunning wooden lodges which have proven very popular with families and walking groups have gained a bronze award.
Ruaridh Macdonald, Operations Director for MAHR said:
"We're pleased to receive these awards and I gratefully accept them on behalf of the board of Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort and also our staff."
"We always aim to meet the highest possible standards here at the resort and being environmentally conscious is good corporate practise. We hope to have the Macdonald Four Seasons hotel and the Aviemore Inn graded in the future once they have been refurbished but this is a good testament to our work so far."
