Wedding Anniversary

Two special customers at a city-centre hotel received a surprise present when they popped in for their weekly coffee.

Charles and Patricia Jones, of Buckley, North Wales, were given a bouquet of flowers by staff at the Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel in Chester when they arrived for their Saturday drink and a snack.

The couple celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary in the Snooty Fox Dining Room at the St. John’s Street hotel last month, with a three-course lunch for 70 guests.

Mr Jones said: “Everyone was really impressed and some have even booked meals at the Snooty Fox restaurant following our party, so I’m glad we went.

We call in for a coffee and a snack every Saturday because we find it to be very pleasant. We know the head waiter George and the manager Kate from their previous hotel at the Carden Park Hotel, and the service they provide is excellent.

We have had letters from everyone saying thank-you for a good time, so we were really pleased.

Mr and Mrs Jones met in 1955 walking down a street in Liverpool and married in 1960. They moved to Buckley in 1968 where they brought up their three sons.

Kate Halewood, general manager at the Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel, said: “Charles and Patricia are very nice people and we were delighted to be part of their anniversary celebrations.

To be happily married after 47 years is pretty special and it was great to see so many of their friends and family here having a lovely time.

They come in to see us every weekend and so we thought we’d get them a little gift to thank them for their loyalty and to mark their anniversary.
