Charity Night

Charity may very well begin at home, but for one lucky organisation it will begin at a Chester hotel.

The Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel in St John’s Street is offering one lucky charity the opportunity to hold a dinner for up to 80 people – for free. The competition, which the hotel is running in conjunction with stylish storage business Store in Queen Street, Chester, is open to charities within the city of Chester. Kate Halewood, general manager of the Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel, said the evening would be held in its refurbished Egerton Suite. The Egerton Suite is a perfect location for dinner-dances, award evenings and charity nights and we thought it would be a good idea to give a helping hand to a local charity, she said.

We are asking charities to write to us and say in no more than 200 words why they should be chosen. The hire of the room will be completely free along with a three-course meal for up to 80 guests. The Egerton Suite along with the rest of the hotel has been completely transformed by our £3 million refurbishment and we are keen to spread the word that this suite is available for hire for a wide range of functions. It will be the choice of the organisers whether they want to charge people to come along because all the money they make from ticket sales and fundraising on the night will be entirely for them. Store has very kindly donated items for a prize draw for people to win on the night.

It is becoming more and more difficult for charities to raise funds but we hope this will help them start 2008 in style. Simon Glanville, managing director from Store added: There are so many charities that are worthy of supporting and I am sure it is going to be difficult to choose just one to enjoy this memorable evening. We will be providing a number of gift vouchers for modern space saving ideas for a prize draw which I’m sure will boost the organisation’s fundraising total on the night. The hotel will agree a date with the winning charity which is subject to availability. Entries should be submitted to Kate Halewood at Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel, St John’s Street, Chester, CH1 1HL, no later than December 24 2007.
