Womens Golf Day
5th September 2008
A golf day for businesswomen who are novice and experienced players will be teeing off at a leading Shropshire venue.
Neil Selwyn-Smith and Kirsty McDonald from the PGA will be putting 21 women through their paces on the immaculate greens at the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Spa in Tarporley Road, Whitchurch.
The Business Ladies Charity Golf Day will raise money for National Children's Homes and give women the chance to network on Wednesday, September 17.
Robert Elliot, Golf Sales Manager of Macdonald Hotels who has helped to organise the event, said a similar day run at Lea Marston Golf Centre in Warwickshire had proved a big success.
"This is a chance for businesswomen based in Birmingham to get together to network as well as learn and understand the basics of golf," he said.
"Kirsty is the national trainer for the PGA and she is a brilliant teacher while Neil is a PGA tutor of high repute and is also highly experienced in organising corporate golf days.
"Everyone will meet for coffee and bacon sandwiches before the two-hour tuition begins and it doesn't really matter if you have never played the game or are an experienced player because it is a great chance to pick up advice from the experts in a friendly atmosphere.
"After lunch and an afternoon of golfing exploits or relaxing in the spa, the group will get together to share their experiences - the highlights and the lowlights - and enjoy a prize giving dinner.
"Hill Valley is not far from the West Midlands and this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the golf and leisure facilities which has made this one of the leading venues in the region."
Neil Selwyn-Smith said he hoped the second business ladies golf day would be great fun.
"If this proves to be a success - which I'm sure it will be - we plan to hold these on a regular basis throughout the year at Hill Valley and other venues," he said.
"This is a great opportunity to play golf and network with like-minded businesswomen as well as boost the funds of the National Children's Homes."
