Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, the UK's largest privately owned hotel group, has appointed Paul Spencer as general manager at the Macdonald Holyrood, Edinburgh.
Paul originally from Portsmouth, will oversee the day to day running of the four star hotel and will play a pivotal role in the hotel's ambition to achieve five star status and world class quality.
A rising star, Paul joined Macdonald Hotels a year ago, as general manager at The Macdonald Parkside Hotel, Milton Keynes. With over 16 year's industry experience, Paul played an instrumental role in driving and developing the hotel into one of the town's finest, gaining 2 AA Rosettes and achieving great success in the Group's mystery guest audit scheme.
Paul started his career as a chef, joining Macdonald Hotels from De Vere, where he held a number of senior management positions.
Speaking about his new role within the group, Paul Spencer said:
"The Macdonald Holyrood Hotel is a well established, luxurious hotel in the heart of Edinburgh. The role of general manager is a great challenge and one I will relish."
"The hotel's location is second to none and with a focussed sales and marketing plan, first-class service and facilities, I aim to establish the Holyrood as the hotel in Scotland. I believe the underlying success of a hotel is its people, so my first task will be to develop and support the team enabling them to offer first-class service matching the hotel's four-star facilities."
