Hill Valley's New Manager

Kate Halewood is getting into the swing of her new role as general manager of a leading Shropshire hotel.

Kate, aged 34, has taken over the reins of the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Spa in Tarporley Road, Whitchurch, after a successful spell at the company's New Blossoms Hotel in Chester.

Kate, originally from the Wirral, helped oversee the re-birth of the four-star New Blossoms which is now one of the leading hotels in the historic city and was awarded 'highly recommended large hotel of the year 2008' at the prestigious Visit Chester and Cheshire Awards in June.

She takes over at the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Spa after a £11.5 million extension and refurbishment programme and the addition of a new £1.7 million health club and spa.

The hotel and spa is also one of the region's leading golf centres with two 18-hole championship courses and the recently-opened Little Gem nine-hole course.

Kate said: "Hill Valley is a superb hotel, spa and golf centre which has built a national reputation over the last couple of years.

"That is something we aim to build upon while remaining a strong favourite with Shropshire people and businesses.

"I am not a golfer and while I will not get a great deal of time to be out on the courses, I intend to take up the sport and hopefully benefit from all our experienced members and professionals!"

Kate studied at Manchester Metropolitan University before starting her career with Marriott hotels in Scotland. She then moved to the Hilton chain and finally the De Vere Carden Park near Chester, before joining the New Blossoms Hotel team.
