Sales Boom For Chester Hotel After Refurbishment

Business is blossoming at a Chester city centre hotel after a multi-million pound investment.

Sales at the Macdonald New Blossoms hotel, in St John Street, have increased month-on-month since it re-launched in April.

And the four-star hotel achieved a record-breaking week for sales during September – doubling its year-on-year performance.

The £3 million project included refurbishing the hotel’s 67 en-suite bedrooms, conference and meeting rooms, restaurant, lounge and cocktail bar – resulting in 35 new jobs for local people.

The good news follows the announcement that Macdonald Hotels has been named as the AA Hotel Group of the Year.

Kate Halewood, general manager at the New Blossoms, said: “By investing in the hotel and repositioning our services, we’ve had a positive reaction from our clients and that has fed back into our profits.

The addition of the Snooty Fox restaurant has particularly helped us attract more business clients because now we can offer a rounded package. Clients can use one of our conference suites, eat with us and then retire to luxury rooms.

I’m delighted for the staff too – everyone has worked incredibly hard to provide a quality service in-keeping with the standard of the hotel. We are now reaping the rewards of that hard work.

Every week seems to be an improvement on the last at the moment - it proves that investment in this sector can be very rewarding and fruitful.
