Excellence Awards

A luxury hotel near Coventry is celebrating after being short-listed in two categories at a prestigious awards ceremony in London. The Macdonald Ansty Hall reached the final three of the customer service and excellence through people sections at the first national Hotel Excellence Awards ceremony. The Best Practice Forum’s Business Excellence Awards reward excellence and recognise best practice in UK businesses in the leisure, travel and tourism industry. The winners were also judged on their management skills, knowledge, achievements, quality of customer service and relationships with their guests. Steve Quick, the general manager of the four-star hotel in Main Street, Ansty, was presented with two framed plaques to mark the venue’s achievements at the gala lunch at Millbank Tower.

Steve said he was delighted the hotel had been nominated in two categories just ten months after becoming general manager. We wrote our submission which was read by a panel of industry figures and then five hotels were put through in each category, he said. We then put together a portfolio and were inspected by a member of the Hotel Reservation Services team who run the awards and the British Hospitality Association. I was privileged to be nominated as a finalist in two categories because we were competing against some of the leading hotels in the UK who are extremely respected within their industry. Although we didn’t win, it was a great achievement for our hotel to get through to the final three of both categories. The ethos behind these awards is to raise the efficiency, productivity and competitiveness in the leisure, travel and tourism industry to world-class levels. I have been general manager for ten months and for the hotel and my team to be nominated for two prestigious awards is amazing.
