Born and bred in Wales' City by the sea, it is a particular
privilege for me to welcome you to the iconic Dragon Hotel, one of
the cornerstones of post-war Swansea City.
With the hard work and dedication of our mostly local team, many
of whom with over 30 years of service here, the hotel has won
Tourism Swansea Bay's 'Best Large Hotel in Swansea Bay' accolade
twice in recent years. We are also as passionate about supporting
local produce and suppliers now as when we opened our doors back in
It is with much pride that I also introduce you to the delights
of the city and its environs. Swansea Bay is truly a
destination that offers a little of everything, from award-winning
natural riches such as the Gower Peninsula, the UK's first
designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to an industrial
heritage of gritty historical significance; from a vibrant
nightlife and top of the range sport facilities to world famous
cultural festivals and highly acclaimed academic opportunities.
The city boasts the largest indoor market, the oldest museum
and the tallest building in Wales and is the birthplace of poet and
playwright Dylan Thomas, who once famously described Swansea 'an
ugly, lovely town', succinctly portraying the areas duality.
Despite graduating with a law degree, it is that kitchen porter
job at the age of 13 that developed my career. The industry
has taken me to Australia and the USA before returning to my home
town and to The Dragon Hotel in 2005. Having found a
Salvadorian husband, Antonio, along the way, our family is complete
with 6 year old Maya and 2 year old Jonathan, and between the three
languages that are spoken at home, there is never a quiet moment to
