Macdonald Leeming House started life as a private residence,
believed to have been built in 1808 and was owned by only three
families and their generations right up until 1969 when it was
purchased and turned into a hotel for the first time.
The hotel is surrounded by 22 acres of land with historic
gardens that were described in the 1900s as an arboriculturalist's
paradise and one of the most complete gardens in private ownership,
being likened in those days as a mini Kew Gardens.
Since it's opening as a hotel Macdonald Leeming House has always
been highly regarded locally as one of Lakelands top hotels.
I have worked in Lake District hotels for over twenty years and
studied Hotel Management and Human Resources locally. Having
worked for Macdonald Group for over eight years I felt proud and
privileged to be appointed as General Manager to this beautiful and
characteristic hotel in April 2013.
Macdonald Leeming House has a very passionate and talented team
who continue to provide the warm welcome and hospitality for which
the hotel has become known. Whether hosting one of our
wonderful weddings or looking after our many leisure and business
guests this, coupled with award-winning food, is one of the reasons
we were pleased to recently be award Macdonald Customer Service
Hotel of the Year.
We look forward to offering you a memorable stay.
