Welcome to the historic and characterful Macdonald Houstoun
House - a mini Heritage Village set in beautiful gardens.
I joined Macdonald Hotels in July 2006 and settled at Macdonald
Houstoun House in April 2012, when I also welcomed Chef and
restaurateur Jeremy Wares to the team - we are in the centre of the
photo above. Together we opened Jeremy Wares Restaurant at
Houstoun House which was awarded it's second AA Rosette in
Jeremy was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 36,
the youngest case in Scotland, but it has not stopped his passion
for cooking. In 2012 Jeremy and I hosted a charity dinner to
raise money to fund research to find a cure for Parkinson's
Disease. We repeated the dinner in October 2013 with our
'Fright Night' as it coincided with Halloween. What a great
night it was, with £20,000 raised for charity. To support the
event, some of my team and I also took part in the Glasgow Great
Scottish Run 10km race.
I arrived in Scotland some 22 years ago from France, and while I
haven't lost my French accent, I have developed a strong Scottish
one, which leads French speaking visitors to congratulate me on my
French. Unashamed, I take the compliment!
I am fortunate to have worked with some great General Managers
and leaders, making me the person and manager I am now. It is
my passion to now develop my team to be great hospitality
ambassadors. I am extremely proud, as members of my team have
been winners at our Macdonald Hotels High Achiever Awards for the
last three years. This year Iain Robertson, who you can see
in our photo with the pink bandana, won Best Barman.
At Macdonald Houstoun House we try to create something a little
bit more relaxed and unique with the friendliness and
professionalism of well trained staff, yet with all the standards
of a Macdonald Hotel. I trust that you will enjoy your stay
and will leave with warm memories of our team.
