We particularly want to mention Richard Westley, who gave us a very good welcome on reception when we checked in on Saturday lunchtime, and even took us to our room to check we were happy with it.  Also, Mia on the bar on Sunday evening was very pleasant, and made one of the best Irish coffees I have ever tasted.

Richard greeted us and told us that he had upgraded our room and had arranged for a bottle of wine to be sent to us, our case had already been taken up. When I entered the most beautiful bouquet was waiting for me, how he managed to order and get them delivered within approx 10 minutes was just incredible. Nothing was too much trouble for him, he is a very personable young man and I have to say an absolute asset. In the evening we went down to reception to ask if they could recommend a restaurant, we met Ryan, lovely young man who went out of his way to help us. I have to say all the staff at Macdonald Burlington Hotel could not do enough for us.

We immediately realised how professional and helpful Richard Westley was on Reception when we checked in, whilst at the same time being naturally friendly. Whilst in reception we met John Rogers. He came across as a real character and made a point of welcoming us.

I emailed the hotel before we arrived to confirm our reservation and mentioned that we were visiting Birmingham to celebrate my wife's birthday. I was very promptly telephoned by Richard Westley who informed me that our room was to be upgraded and that a bottle of wine would be put in our room to greet us when we arrived. Richard was true to his word and we, very much, appreciated this super gesture. In fact, we found the hotel to be everything we had been told to expect.  The room was lovely, the staff were most attentive, friendly and efficient and the food was excellent!
