The acclaimed Chaloner's Restaurant at Gisborough Hall Hotel has been superbly headed by Head Chef David Sotheran for the past five years.

North East England and Yorkshire provides the larder for his locally-inspired menus.  David has evolved a subtly delicious style that has won a host of accolades, retaining 2 AA Rosettes for the restaurant for three years running.

One of the many things that sets Gisborough Hall Hotel apart is its dedication to serving only the highest quality food and offering wonderful service on your special day.  David's dedicated and loyal brigade produce dishes at a consistently high level, reflecting the hotel owner Lord Gisborough's desire to source local ingredients and support local farming.

He Has over 20 years' experience, including many years cooking in a North Yorkshire country house hotel with shooting estates.  He makes use of this experience daily, procuring fresh game from the moors, fish from Whitby and beef from the Yorkshire Dales - fresh produce is his passion.

David first came to Gisborough Hall Hotel as Sous Chef, taking day-to-day responsibility of managing Chaloners Restaurant, G Bar and Bistro and the hotels extensive banqueting facility.

As Head Chef, he achieved the accolade of 2 AA rosettes in 2011, and is part of a team that has received a host of awards over the past few years, including North East England Large Hotel of the Year, Yorkshire White Rose Awards finalist and Yorkshire Life Hotel of the Year.  He has helped to shape many young chefs' aspirations while managing the kitchens.

Born in the North East, brought up in the area and spending his career working locally, David really epitomises what is great about the region.  And with his British style with modern tweaks and surprises, he can truly be said to cook are the forefront of modern local cuisine.
