
Terms and Conditions
The terms and conditions detailed below apply to all short breaks and holidays featured in the Quality Breaks brochure ("Quality Breaks"). When you make a booking, your contract (which shall include these terms and conditions) will be with Macdonald Hotels Limited, Whiteside House, Bathgate, West Lothian, EH48 2RX (referred to in these terms and conditions as "Macdonald Hotels").
All Quality Breaks featured in this guide are offered subject to availability and Macdonald Hotels & Resorts reserves the right to refuse any booking for good reason. Bookings may be made for stays between 1st November 2007 and 31st March 2008 inclusive.
PRICING
All prices shown in the Quality Breaks brochure are in £'s per person per night (unless otherwise stated) based on 2 people sharing a twin or double for 2 or more nights, except for certain holiday periods where a minimum 3 or 5 night stay may apply. These rates apply to pre-booked leisure stays only and are for a minimum 2 night stay. All prices include Value Added Tax at the current prevailing rate (17.5%). Prices are subject to change without notice. However, your price is guaranteed once you are given a confirmation number. For the avoidance of doubt, your price does not include any incidental charges which you may incur during your stay (including, by way of example only, in respect of your use of the hotel's bar and mini-bar facilities and the costs of external telephone calls from your room). Such charges will be payable by you on your departure and, in the event that you fail to pay any such incidental charges, it is a condition of your contract with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts that you irrevocably authorise Macdonald Hotels to debit your credit or debit card (see 'Deposits and Pre-payments' below) for the amount of any shortfall.
WHAT THE PRICE INCLUDES
Prices for breaks include twin or double bedrooms (single room for single guests) with colour TV, direct dial telephone and private en suite bathroom. The prices shown in the Quality Breaks brochure are not valid in conjunction with any other offer and, until you have received your confirmation number, are subject to change without prior notice. References in the Quality Breaks brochure to midweek rates are for Monday through to Thursday nights and weekend rates apply for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
AVAILABILITY
Availability of rooms at the rates shown in the Quality Breaks brochure may be limited and/or restricted to certain periods. During major sporting events, social events, conferences and exhibitions, the rates shown in the Quality Breaks brochure may not apply.
FEATURE ROOMS
At many of our hotels you can, on payment of a supplement, upgrade your accommodation to a feature room or a suite, on a per room per night basis. Please ask for details.
SINGLE GUESTS
Individual guests using a single room (where available) are charged the standard per person rate and single supplement rate, as shown in the Quality Breaks brochure. When no single room is available, individual guests may book a double or twin room and pay a single occupancy supplement as indicated in each hotel entry in the Quality Breaks brochure. For certain hotels, the supplement may be equivalent to the rate charged for a second person's stay.
CHILDREN
Children under 5 can stay and eat free at any of our hotels when sharing a room with 2 paying adults on the same meal basis. Children from the age of 5 - 14 will be charged at £15 per child per night. When sharing a room with 2 paying adults where a suitable room is available. Availability of suitable rooms is limited and portable beds may need to be used where such accommodation is sought. The hotel concerned will determine whether a room is suitable for the purpose of this offer. Feature rooms are excluded from this offer. Children staying in their own room will be charged at 75% of the full adult Quality Break rate paid by the accompanying adults.
TESCO PROMOTION
Full Quality Breaks rates apply. No additional discounts or offers apply. Please refer to the Terms & Conditions issued by Tesco.
DRESS CODE
A formal dress code is applicable at a selection of our hotels when dining. Please call the hotel direct for more details.
BABY SITTING
At some of our hotels, baby sitting services are provided as a chargeable extra. Where baby sitting services are available, 7 days' advance notice of your baby sitting requirements is required by the hotel. For more information on availability and booking of our baby sitting services, please call the relevant hotel direct.
GUESTS WITH IMPAIRED MOBILITY
A number of of our hotels offer modified facilities for guests with impaired mobility. Others, whilst not having special facilities, have mainly level access to public areas and accessible bathrooms. Guests with impaired mobility or other particular requirements should check with their chosen hotel in advance that their requirements can be met. Please call the hotel direct for details. DOGS Certain of our hotels are able to accommodate dogs, at the manager's discretion, in some cases for an extra charge. Please call the hotel direct for details.
CAR PARKING
Car parking is free at most of our hotels, but at some sites there is limited availability. For further information on parking availability and charges, please call the hotel direct.
CHECKING IN AND OUT
Arrival and Departure Hotel rooms are available from 2pm on the day of arrival. Rooms must be vacated by 11am on the day of departure, unless otherwise sanctioned at the discretion of the hotel manager. For certain of our hotels, these times may differ. Please ask for details of the arrival and departure times when making your booking.
MEAL ARRANGEMENTS
Those Quality Breaks which include breakfast offer a full traditional or continental breakfast with tea or coffee. Those Quality Breaks which include dinner offer a choice from the hotel's table d'hôte menu. Where a hotel does not offer a table d'hôte menu, an allowance (which varies from hotel to hotel) is allocated towards dining from the à la carte menu. There is no refund for meals which are not taken by guests and lunch cannot be taken in place of dinner.
HEALTH, LEISURE AND BEAUTY
Many of our hotels have excellent leisure facilities (which are free for guests) such as swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi (the availability and range of facilities varies from hotel to hotel). Please check the availability and range of facilities at your chosen hotel when placing your booking. A charge will be made for the use of certain facilities, such as solaria, exercise classes and beauty treatments. Your use of such facilities is subject to any particular terms and conditions applying at the hotel at which you have placed your booking. Under 16s are not permitted to use the gymnasium (where available) and must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times when using any other available leisure facilities. Under 5s are not permitted to use spa pools, saunas, solaria and steam rooms.
BOOKING INFORMATION
Call Macdonald Hotels & Resorts Central Reservations Team on 0844 879 9000 or book on-line at www.MacdonaldHotels.co.uk, or call the hotel of your choice direct. Due to the nature of some of our products, not all of them are available on-line. Our Central Reservations Team is available to take your booking 7 days a week from 8.30am to 9.00pm Monday to Friday and 9.00am to 5.00pm Saturday and Sunday. If you make a booking through Macdonald Hotels & Resorts Central Reservations or direct with the hotel, you will be asked to guarantee your booking with a valid debit/ credit card.
GROUP BOOKING
A booking of 8 rooms or more is classified as a group and is subject to our Group Terms & Conditions of business, which differ from our Quality Break rates. Please contact the hotel direct for further details.
DEPOSITS AND PRE-PAYMENTS
A £50 non-refundable, non transferable deposit will be taken per room within 24 hours by the hotel. Final payment is taken on departure or in the event of cancellation in accordance with our cancellation terms. See under 'Cancellations and Amendments' opposite for details on cancellations.
BALANCE OF MONIES OUTSTANDING
Prior to your departure from the hotel you will be required to settle your bill. On arrival you will be asked to produce a valid debit or credit card for the hotel to take an imprint. If you are settling your account in cash, you will be asked for a deposit to cover the cost of your room for your stay (and any extras which you may incur in the hotel will not be chargeable to your room account). Macdonald Hotels & Resorts accept all major credit cards, including MasterCard, Visa and American Express. Alternatively, payment can be made by cheque supported by a current cheque guarantee card.
CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS
There will be a £2.00 surcharge on all credit card transactions - this does not apply to debit card transactions.
CANCELLATIONS AND AMENDMENTS
All cancellations must be made in accordance with our cancellation terms. Most Quality Break packages can be cancelled by up to 2pm of day of arrival but with the loss of the non-refundable deposit (see paragraph on deposits). However, cancellation terms may vary according to the type of Quality Break which you have booked (see, for example, under 'Special Interest Breaks' below). Please ask at the time of booking for further information regarding the cancellation terms applicable to your Quality Break. Where a cancellation is not made in accordance with our applicable cancellation terms, we reserve the right to charge you for the first night's accommodation. A cancellation number must be obtained to ensure that such charges will not be levied. Whilst every effort is made to fulfil any particular requests which you may have in relation to your stay with us, we cannot unfortunately guarantee that we will be able to meet any particular requests which you may make and our failure in this regard will not constitute a breach of contract. In the unlikely event that we have to change or cancel your reservation, we reserve the right to do so. However, you have the right to: - accept the changed arrangements as notified; or - make alternative arrangements with Macdonald Hotels & Resorts; or - cancel your reservation and receive a full refund of any monies which you have paid to Macdonald Hotels & Resorts in respect of your reservation (please note that we shall not be liable for any sums which you have paid to any other persons in connection with your reservation). For the avoidance of doubt, we shall have no further liability to you for any changes to or the cancellation of any Quality Break.
SPECIAL INTEREST BREAKS
In the event of a guest cancelling any Christmas Package or 'Murder Break', 20% of the total holiday price will be retained as a cancellation charge.
COMPLAINTS OR COMMENTS
Any complaint or comment regarding a stay at one of our hotels should be made in the first instance to the hotel's duty manager at the time of your stay so that it can be resolved at the time. Problems which cannot be resolved there and then should be notified in writing to Customer Services, c/o Bobsleigh Hotel, Hempstead Road, Bovingdon, Hertfordshire, HP3 0DS.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Although every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in the Quality Breaks brochure, we cannot accept responsibility for any errors or omissions, and reserve the right to vary, amend, supplement or cancel any of the information or offers featured in the Quality Breaks brochure at any time. Macdonald Hotels & Resorts shall not be responsible for any loss or damage which you may suffer arising out of events beyond its control or the control of its suppliers (including, without limitation, fire, failure of electrical, gas or other power supplies, strikes, industrial action, terrorist activity, technical problems with transport, illness of entertainers and bad weather), nor for any curtailment, cancellation or change to any accommodation, activity or itinerary or any other consequences which arise as a result of such events. For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in these terms and conditions shall operate to attempt to exclude or limit the Company's liability for the death or personal injury of any person caused by the negligence of the Company or its employees, servants or agents or to attempt to exclude or limit the Company's liability in any manner which would be unlawful. These terms and conditions shall be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which the hotel for which you make your booking is situated.
GREAT DAYS OUT
Full Terms & Conditions and opening times and contact numbers can be found in the 'Great Days Out' voucher booklet. One 'Great Days Out' voucher booklet relevant to your region will be given upon check in. The 'Great Days Out' voucher booklet will have a limited number of vouchers from venues offering 2 for 1 entrance tickets or savings at attractions within the region. Macdonald Hotels & Resorts cannot be held responsible for the opening times of attractions and you should check details direct with the attractions.
