Hotels in Windermere

When Cupid needs a helping hand, Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa will be by his side with a proposal package to help hopeful romantics pop the question this Valentine's day.

Ahead of the most romantic time of the year, the hotel is offering guests hoping to tie the knot, everything they need to make the occasion as memorable as possible. Couples can stay in one of the hotel's suites, complete with king-size bed, a bath big enough for two and views over Lake Windermere.

Lovers will be greeted with a chilled bottle of Prosecco and chocolates in the room, with beds strewn with rose petals as an extra romantic touch. And if a real romantic wants to spring an extra surprise; from hiding an engagement ring inside a Champagne glass, to having a special song played over dinner, the Macdonald Hotels team will be more than happy to oblige.

The luxury four star Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa has always been a popular choice for romantic getaways and weekend breaks.  It nestles on the shores of Lake Windermere, with views over mature lawns to atmospheric, private jetties and moorings.

Chris Brockbank, hotel manager at Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa, said: "With its idyllic views and elegant décor, the Old England is one the most romantic spots on Lake Windermere, and has quite a few love stories to tell.  We wanted to continue this tradition and that's why we've launched our proposal package.

"Whether guests want help hiding the ring in a favourite dessert, or arranging petals to spell 'Will you marry me?' the hotel staff are prepared to assist in any way they can to make that moment unforgettable."

The special package includes a two-night stay, romantic three-course dinner for two as well as a long lie-in and award winning breakfast starting from only £160 per couple. The package can be booked up until 29 February 2016 for stays until 30 April 2016, and guests should quote "proposal package" when booking.
