Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa in Shropshire hosted a Christmas party for 150 local elderly members of the community on Monday 14 December.

Guests, all dressed in their festive finery, came from all across Shropshire; from residential homes and sheltered housing, as well as from the Bradbury Care Centre in Whitchurch.

The Afternoon Tea was held in the hotel's Shropshire Suite which was decorated with garlands, twinkling fairy lights and an impressive Christmas tree. Guests were able to enjoy the stunning panoramic views over manicured gardens while they indulged in festive turkey sandwiches followed by cakes and scones. The afternoon's entertainment included local comedy plus music from the St John Talbot school choir who sang a medley of classic Christmas carols including Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer and Away in a Manger.

Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Spa General Manager Robin Ford said: "We wanted to reach out to elderly people who are living in our community and invite them to join us for a party. We know that many older people living in Shropshire can be lonely at this time of year so we hope, along with the help of the Bradbury Care Centre, that we have been able to spread a little Christmas cheer. This party has been taking place at Macdonald Hill Valley for 40 years and it is one of the real highlights of the season for us. Every year we work on a bigger and better celebration and this year was no exception. "

Mandy Silvester, of Prees, who is co-owner of Bradbury Care Centre, said: "We are very grateful to all the wonderful staff at Macdonald Hill Valley for putting on such a great festive Christmas Afternoon Tea again this year. As well as being a great party in a beautiful setting we are hoping that some of the guests have formed new friendships to give them a support network all year round."

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and operates over 40 hotels across the UK and ten resorts in both the UK and Spain.
