Meg Fairclough, Food and Beverage Manager at Macdonald Manchester
Hotel & Spa, has been awarded a coveted Acorn Award by The
Caterer, recognising her as one of the brightest young prospects in
the hospitality industry.
Meg, aged 23 from Bolton, was recognised for her commitment to
delivering a high quality food and beverage offering to all guests
and to coaching and developing a team of 60 people.
Each year the Acorn Awards recognise 30 people under 30 in the
hospitality industry, who have been nominated by their peers and
colleagues for making an outstanding contribution to their field.
Since the launch of the awards 29 years ago, just 840 people have
won the prestigious title and notable winners include celebrity
chef, Marcus Wareing and Michelin-starred chef, Jason
The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on 7th and 8th
June at Foxhills Hotel and Resort in Surrey.
Commenting on her award, Meg said: "I feel really honoured
to be recognised by the Acorn Awards, along with 29 extremely
talented and inspiring young people.
"I must pass on thanks to the whole team at Macdonald Manchester
Hotel & Spa who have been really supportive during my time
here and especially my General Manager, Paul Bayliss, who has given
me some amazing opportunities to grow and develop. I'm very excited
about my future here and I can't wait to see what opportunities the
next 12 months will bring."
Meg is also a talented cricketer and plays for both Lancashire
County Cricket Club and Egerton Cricket Club.
