Meg Fairclough, Food and Beverage Manager at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa, has been awarded a coveted Acorn Award by The Caterer, recognising her as one of the brightest young prospects in the hospitality industry.

Meg, aged 23 from Bolton, was recognised for her commitment to delivering a high quality food and beverage offering to all guests and to coaching and developing a team of 60 people.

Each year the Acorn Awards recognise 30 people under 30 in the hospitality industry, who have been nominated by their peers and colleagues for making an outstanding contribution to their field. Since the launch of the awards 29 years ago, just 840 people have won the prestigious title and notable winners include celebrity chef, Marcus Wareing and Michelin-starred chef, Jason Atherton.

The winners were announced at an awards ceremony on 7th and 8th June at Foxhills Hotel and Resort in Surrey.

Commenting on her award, Meg said:  "I feel really honoured to be recognised by the Acorn Awards, along with 29 extremely talented and inspiring young people.

"I must pass on thanks to the whole team at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa who have been really supportive during my time here and especially my General Manager, Paul Bayliss, who has given me some amazing opportunities to grow and develop. I'm very excited about my future here and I can't wait to see what opportunities the next 12 months will bring."

Meg is also a talented cricketer and plays for both Lancashire County Cricket Club and Egerton Cricket Club.

Paul Bayliss, General Manager at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa said:  "Meg really is a rising star not only at the hotel but in the wider hospitality industry. She is an enthusiastic, hard-working and motivational member of the team and it has been a pleasure to work with her for the past four years. We're delighted that she has won an Acorn Award and I'm sure there are many more award wins to come."
