Leading environmental waste management company, ACM Environmental PLC, is delighted to name Macdonald Hotels & Resorts a winner of the first Greener Path Award for Landfill Diversion.

In association with the British Council for Sustainable Development, the Greener Path Awards celebrate the great work businesses across the UK have done to reduce the impact they have on the environment.

Winners of the award are recognised for exemplary effort and achievement in minimising waste, boosting recycling and increasing landfill diversion while seeking out sustainable ways to handle waste.

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, the UK's largest independently owned hotel group, is one such business, having achieved average landfill diversion of more than 96% in the last 12 months.

Andy Jacobs, Chief Executive of ACM Environmental said: "We are delighted that Macdonald Hotels & Resorts is a recipient of the Landfill Diversion Award.

"We have worked in partnership with them for many years to help implement an environmentally-sound waste management strategy in line with their own Room 15 sustainability initiative. To see them achieve such sustained and impressive landfill diversion results is extremely gratifying."

Enzo Bertolone, Purchasing Director at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, said: "We have hotels all over the UK and we understand that it's of paramount importance not only to provide guests with a luxurious stay, but also to be environmentally efficient.

"To be presented with the first Greener Path Award for Landfill Diversion is an incredible achievement and, at Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, we will continue to do our part in shaping an environmentally sustainable future."
