The appointment of Jerome Cogne as the new head chef at Macdonald
Linden Hall Golf & Country Club in Longhorsely,
Northumberland has further reinforced the hotel's ambitions to
regain its status as one of north-east England's leading hotel and
Jerome (43) returns to Macdonald
Linden Hall, part of the 2013-2014 AA Hotel Group of the Year
with an appetite for achieving further culinary success. For the
Frenchman, it's the latest step in an impressive 25-year long
resume that has seen him work with the likes of Roland Durand at
the 2 Michelin star Le Pre Catelan in Paris, the 3 Michelin star
Maison Troisgros in Roanne (France) and alongside Joel Antunes at
the 1 Michelin star Les Saveurs in London.
Jerome commented: "As a boy in the Loire Valley, I was inspired
by the care and skill with which my two grandmothers would bake and
prepare tasty stews using home grown produce.
"So I am very excited to be returning to Macdonald
Linden Hall and a hotel group that is equally passionate about
the quality of its food offering. As head chef and working
closely with a team that includes my sous chef 'Rolly,' I have a
real opportunity to make my mark on great tasting menus. I aim to
ensure our double AA rosette Dobson Restaurant and Linden Tree
Pub become firm favourites and must visit dining destinations
in the local area and further afield."
Andrew Thresh, General Manager Macdonald
Linden Hall Golf & Country Club, added: "I feel incredibly
fortunate to be able to bring Jerome, an inspirational and highly
skilled chef back to our hotel and I look forward to working
closely with him to help put Macdonald
Linden Hall back firmly on the map."
It is Jerome's second time at Macdonald
Linden Hall, having left in 2011 to be head-chef at the Bouchon
Bistrot in nearby Hexham. News of his appointment also comes just
weeks after Andrew Thresh was installed as the new general manager
at the 50 bedroom hotel.
Set in 450 acres of grounds, in addition to excellent dining, Macdonald
Linden Hall Golf & Country Club offers guests an 18-hole
golf course, spa and pool. The 200 year-old mansion house is
renowned as a magnificent wedding venue with banqueting/conference
space for up to 300 guests.
