A piper in traditional dress was spotted on the roof of Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa on Thursday 22nd May, announcing the re-launch of the hotel's award-winning Scottish Steak Club restaurant.

Playing traditional Highland bagpipes to a busy commuter crowd, Ray, the hotel's piper played from the top of the eight floor roof for two hours, where the enchanting sounds of Scotland could be heard across the city.

The luxury four-star Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa is re-launching its multi award winning Scottish Steak Club restaurant on Friday 30th May to the public. It continues to offer the very best of British, as well as some of the world's most delicious steak cuts alongside only wildest, freshest seafood. As the current AA Hotel Group of the Year and with a reputation on food provenance unmatched in the industry, the re-launched Scottish Steak Club is just another venture for Macdonald Hotels to further improve on what they do.

Guests will also be able to watch the chefs in action creating their dishes via the theatre kitchen that sits in the heart of the restaurant.

Paul Bayliss MBE, General Manager at Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa, said: "We are immensely proud of our reputation for serving guests only the finest quality food and for having one of Manchester's very best restaurants in our hotel. Put simply there is zero compromise on food quality or fantastic service. Having the restaurant refurbished will only add to the experience for our guests. The feedback about our 'piper piping' has been amazing with the music meandering across the Piccadilly train station platforms all afternoon with bags of applause for piper, Ray. After today, we know even more people coming into and out of Manchester will have had 'their calling' to visit Manchester's number one hotel restaurant; as determined by TripAdvisor in a restaurant that sits within the top two per cent of roughly 1,600 restaurants in Cottonopolis. This is something our great team should be really proud of and underlines our ongoing commitment to giving customers exactly what they want."

The hotel is situated just three minutes' walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station.   It is the one of the largest four-star hotel in Manchester and combines 338 beautiful bedrooms with state of the art conferencing, an indulgent urban spa and first class bar, conferencing and banqueting.
