The Holyrood Hotel Wedding Package

At the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel our wedding planner will assist you with every aspect of your wedding day - from choosing the wine to complement your menu or helping put the finishing touches to your floor plan, we can even recommend florists and photographers or a Highland Piper to make your day more memorable.

The following will be included within your wedding package:

• Room Hire for exclusive use of our function suites (subject to minimum numbers and seasonal variations)
• Use of the hotel's silver cake base and knife
• Red carpet treatment with a personal greeting from a member of the management team and a glass of champagne for the Bride & Groom
• Complimentary executive accommodation for the Bride & Groom, with full Scottish breakfast, on their wedding night
• Six months complimentary membership at the Vital Leisure Club for the Bride & Groom
• Wedding Breakfast Menu and Wine tasting prior to the Wedding Day
• Personalised menu & seating plan printing

Wedding Suites & Capacities

Our banqueting suite consists of two rooms and its own private bar.

The Holyrood Suite provides an intimate setting for up to 90 guests for your religious or civil ceremony. We can also cater for smaller wedding breakfasts of up to 50 wedding guests in this suite.

Our main suite, the Salisbury Suite, features a large private balcony with stunning views of the Salisbury Crags and can cater for up to 110 for your wedding breakfast, with up to 160 for your evening reception.

All wedding receptions will have exclusive use of both function suites and private function bar, based on minimum numbers and seasonal variations.

Wedding Open Days

We regularly hold wedding open day at the hotel when we set our function suites up for a small mock wedding breakfast and ceremony. Join our events team between 1pm - 4pm for some canapes and a glass of bubbly and allow us to answer any questions you may have.

Photograph Locations

The private balcony of the Salisbury Suite and our Library on the 6th Floor offer some superb photograph opportunities within the hotel. In addition to this, the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel sits at the foot of the Royal Mile with plenty of external photograph locations just a short walk away.

The Palace of Holyrood House
The official residence in Scotland of her Majesty the Queen, the Palace of Holyrood House stands at the foot of the Royal Mile against a spectacular backdrop of Arthur's Seat and only a few steps away from the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel. The palace grounds offer beautiful surroundings for your photographer to ensure your wedding photographs provide fantastic memories of the most important day of your life.

To use the Palace of Holyrood House as a photograph location, you need to write, with the date of your wedding, approximate time your photographs will be taken and how many are in your bridal party to:

Holyrood Park and Arthur's Seat
Set at the foot of the Salisbury Crags and Arthur's Seat, Holyrood Park is a stone's throw from the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel. The dramatic backdrop of these famous Edinburgh landmarks sets the scene for some stunning photographs to make your day unforgettable. Alternatively you could take a trip past Dunsapie Loch on the High Road and use the magnificent views across the city that Arthur's Seat has to offer.

Both Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park are looked after by the Royal Park Rangers and Historic Scotland. Permisson to have professional photographs taken should be sought by the Events Unit at Longmore House; there may be a charge for this.
