The Macdonald Holyrood Hotel is committed to being a green, environmentally friendly hotel and reducing its carbon footprint. The hotel has already acheived Silver status within the Green Tourism Business Scheme and is aiming for Gold. As part of this, the hotel is involved in the following:

• 1.The Princes Royal Trust for Carers - all our guests are invited to support this fund by donating £1, added to their hotel bill
• 2. The Holyrood is working closely with www.transporterdirect.com - "Connecting People to Places", offering public transport solutions and alternatives
• 3. The hotel has implemented many measures which include turning all televisions off instead of placing them on standby, switching towel rails off, asking guests to place used bath towels in the bath when they need changing and using energy saving light bulbs in all bedrooms.
• 4. In our restaurant we only use fish from sustainable sources and all of our eggs are free range - our food policy is:

We take pride in providing only white wild fish for our customers. Our Salmon, kippers and haddock are supplied by the renowned Loch Fyne Oyster Company"

• 5. The hotel has set up a Green Team to ensure the above actions are carried out and that the Holyrood continues to be an environmentally friendly, also focusing on waste management and containment and energy monitoring and saving.
